Back to the 80s

As part of UKCBC’s top-up degree campaign, I created an 80s-themed animation. The aim of the campaign was to catch the attention of mature students (our main demographic) who had originally studied in the 80/90s and had recently finished their level 5 qualification. The content and design style spoke to their inherent nostalgia - a powerful tool for marketers.

The campaign is to be used via Facebook and Instagram and will lead to a landing page offering a similarly themed ‘Top-up Survival Guide’ for students, which includes details on funding options, what to expect during the new qualification, and how to prepare.

I already had some experience with video editing, but this project marked my first foray into After Effects animation. I learned a huge amount about the programme and am very pleased with the finished product. Feedback gained from the project was extremely positive; you can feel the sense of nostalgia glowing from each VHS-inspired pixel.
